As of May, 2022, Wood's flagship fund, Ark Innovation, trails the S&P 500 for the trailing five years. The fund has dropped in value by more than 70% from last year's peak.

(32,025 posts)Because of Twitter troubles. Musk selling Tesla stock would dilute the value of the stock. That said Tesla still has a market cap 10 times that of either Ford or GM.

(2,816 posts)Those affect the cost of capital. Car financing and any Corp loans will be more expensive now. And Tesla stock has to compete w fixed rate stuff like bonds.

(5,528 posts)Hadn't really paid that close of attention to the stock side of the auto industry but that is crazy that Tesla is deemed to be worth 10x what Ford is worth. Despite making five times fewer cars.
I think Musk selling the stock is only one of the reasons it is going down. It would seem that the idea of pissing off your customer pool would be bad business as well.
