I suspect he will do whatever Marjorie Taylor Greene wants him to do. He's a very weak leader of this conference, meaning that he will adhere to the wishes of the lowest common denominator."

(22,143 posts)losing agenda by focusing on idiotic topics as well as djt, both not popular with the vast majority of voters.
I don't think I need a crystal ball to predict the future (in Nov. 2024):
House and Senate republicans, continuing their losing streak from 2022, have lost even more seats in both Congressional chambers. Critical factors causing the big losses by the republican party were concentrating on issues that voters didn't care about, as well as an sick obsession with djt and his losing ways.
President Biden, as anticipated, stomped tRUMP also by focusing on what he's done for voters since he came president in 2020. Big gains by Democrats across the board will lead to positive and constructive legislative efforts, such as reinforcing Social Security for Seniors, a more comprehensive and fairer taxing policies. The list is too long to show here, of all of the things that Democrats will do for all Americans.

(65,076 posts)If they took both chambers by 15% or one by a single seat, they'd claim it was a mandate.
The numbers don't actually matter.
That is, until a couple purple district Rs start talking about negotiating with dems on an issue.

(21,769 posts)Every time a voter hears "Republican", they should think of Marjorie Taylor Greene.
McCarthy is helping us by putting her in every one of his appearances. Bless his heart.

Can those be codified so they stay in place? Will the r's who refuse to obey House rules be fined? Will the r's who previously broke House rules and had fines they didn't pay have those forgiven?
All of which is wrong and the r's know it.

That's what it's going to be like, hearings where absolutely no one listens. Biden will be impeached at some point, the "charges" will be absolutely laughable. Hunter Biden's infamous laptop will never be produced, but all the yappers will be convinced they know everything that is on it.
Watching the news is going to make a lot of people crazy, especially when something needs to be done (like the budget) and it is ignored unless they turn it over to the Democrats, which isn't as farfetched as it sounds. Republicans don't like boring old numbers when there is grandstanding to be done.
