The Republicans have such a narrow margin in the incoming House that MAGA extremists like MTG and Jim Jordan are going to be able to dictate the agenda to whoever is Speaker (presumably McCarthy). The MAGA extremists might run the show.
That said, there are a number of more moderate Republicans that were elected in districts that Biden won. Is it possible that Democrats could ally with these more Centrist Republicans against the MAGA crazies? An alliance between Dems and more moderate Republicans.
Can Joe Biden reach across the aisle and bring in moderate Republicans to ally with the Democrats and defang the MAGA crazies? If so, we could pass some important legislation to benefit the country and defeat the most extreme right wing MAGA Republicans. What do you think?

ms cheney lost her primary by a huge percentage, and in general her economic and foreign policies are not something we'd want to associate with.

(17,316 posts)Invite Rick Wilson, Michael Steele, Bill Kristol, George Conway, and all former big name Rs who believe the only
way to save the R party is to kill it, to be guest speakers at this function. Get them to talk directly to congress
members to follow their lead and switch party affiliation to Democrat or Independent to save Democracy from
Der orange Fuhrer and MAGAts before it's to late.
It's always middle of the road elected officials who change parties never the far sides. I believe former Rs talking
to current Rs behind closed doors might work. House is basically just a few seats from being 50/50, if
they get a few to hop in the boat, we'll be better off.

(86,775 posts)A good move. Wonder if it something already in the works. It seems that our party has a plan. I don't know what it is but I can only speculate that it is something clearly within the parameters of House rules.

(11,358 posts)any sort of legislative initiative. If not in favor, it will not be taken up. The best I can see happening is a handful of Rs that are willing to vote against extreme measures (w/ backing from constituents). Building coalitions with the Democrats? Slim to almost none.
