Budweiser says it will award unconsumed Qatar beer to the World Cup winner

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/budweiser-says-it-will-give-unused-qatar-world-cup-beer-to-tournament-winner-11669137576?siteid=yhoof2

The 2022 World Cup host nation, Qatar, stunned World Cup sponsor Budweiser with its last-second ban of alcohol sales at stadiums during soccer’s big, quadrennial spectacle.

Budweiser now says it will take some of the beer it originally planned to sell during the tournament and give it to the country whose team lifts the World Cup on Dec. 18.

“We will host the ultimate championship celebration for the winning country. Because, for the winning fans, they’ve taken the world. More details will be shared when we get closer to the finals,” an Anheuser-Busch InBev BUD, -0.07% spokesperson reportedly told CNN.

The beer giant had previously alluded to its World Cup surplus in a tweet.

20 years, but there is an expiration date and once you have a keg on tap, it's good for 45-60 days maybe. The breweries wouldn't let us deliver kegs if we would not be back at that stop before the expiration date.

How long does the World Cup last? I'd say they would be lucky if they had 30 days to do something with those kegs. It might be all canned and bottled beer I suppose.

such an event to a "dry" area is pretty darned stupid. But then, the corruption in the IOC is almost beyond belief. And I never forget rMoney's part in it.

Wouldn't it be ironic if a country with a history of beer brewing back to the Middle Ages, like Belgium, England, or Germany, won?

Beside that, Budweiser beer should go to the last place team since it SUCKS. And make that team pay to ship it back -- wherever.

Then at the last minute I guess the rulers said, "Wait--we're Muslims, aren't we? Forgot about that! Oopsy."

Nobody forced them to dishonor themselves by making a commitment and being false, lying in their word and business ethics.

Oh, well. Too bad for Bud, which still sucks. If Qatar is going to blow up Muslim law, do it with a better beer.

Good thing that America's corporate citizens are that shining example on the hill. (sarcasm)

When I drink, which is rare, it's to get a nice buzz. Any old alcohol works for that. I draw the line at Natural Light or Ultra, though.

Oh honey bun, Imma promise you Budweiser won’t miss me. They have a huge fan base.

And during my younger years, I contributed mightily to the Budweiser fortune. Budweiser long necks frosted over in an iced cooler by the side of a Florida Keys canal. Ah, those were the days, my friend. Mm hmm.

My tastes have changed. Bless my ears and whiskers, now I’m a snob!

I found it kinda creepy seeing all those men screaming and yelling. Just think if they were drinking.

I know there’s a lot of violence committed by fans win or lose.
