Brutal St. Louis newspaper editorial pleads with Dems to save the country from GOP House 'toddlers'

By Tom Boggioni
Published November 28, 2022

According to the editorial board of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the current Democratic majority on the House has a duty to wrap up as much business as it can before the Republicans take over in January with their slim majority planning on launching multiple investigations of the Joe Biden administration instead of dealing with the country's needs.

In a word, the editors referred to the House Republicans under possible House Speaker Kevin McCarthy as "toddlers" who will require constant supervision.

Getting right to the point, the editors wrote, "Just as it’s a good idea to child-proof a home before having toddlers over for a birthday party, congressional Democrats should be doing what they can during the current lame-duck session to prepare for the incoming Republican House majority — a crowd that has literally announced its intention to threaten America’s fiscal stability, block election reforms and abandon Ukraine."

I agree with other DUers that this may have been the best election result - give repukes just enough power for them to display what they are all about. They don't govern in any way now, it's strictly a performance for the cult. Please proceed.

but this gives America the chance to see repukes solely performing for the cult for two years, I think they will find it very tiresome indeed...

to be more careful in who their electing and not rely on out of state representatives to be the adults?!? MI voted right along with these knuckleheads.

Elections have consequences. I just wish the Red states could only squander the tax revenue they generate instead of pilfering the Blue states, which I believe collectively contribute more.

Completely how this happened. How the Dems were unable to hold off a political party of such staggering incompetence that clearly hates a large segment of the country, Greene, Boebert, Gosar, Jordan, Geatz (who should have been charged with sex trafficking's if what was reported was correct)...into taking the majority, yet here we are.

We will see now just how far the Dems are willing to go in playing the BS game that is about to commence. To their credit the GOP House has said just exactly what they were going to do if they regained the majority...expect exactly that it will be subpoena after subpoena after subpoena after hearing after hearing after hearing... Benghazi will look like a joke compared to what the GOPs target is going to be now...

How naïve I was after candidate Obama won the Presidency in thinking the days of insane government that gave us hits like the Iraq War and Guantanamo, Katrina, Global Financial Collapse (its amazing the uptick in disasters we have when the GOP is in charge).

How naïve...

Of stupid people out there. You're used to people around you exhibiting good sense more often than not.

Those of us living in a red state never get surprised by how much stupid exists in this country. It's in our faces, every single day. If anything, I have to remind myself that it's only 60% of the people around me who are effectively brain dead, rather than 90%.

...and the confounding thing is that the GOP for decades has a well known playbook for how to handle campaign scandals in a manner that usually just withers their opponent sometimes right out of the race.

With all the FUBAR that the GOP has done in the last 6 years (really since 2000)... Wars, torture of humans, financial global collapse, calling a virus a hoax while 1 million Americans died, a coup attempt, stealing national secrets, doubling the national debt and numerous other ripe issues for a campaign strategist to get their teeth into and really paint a very accurate and devastating picture of the GOP.

How the Dems have not been able to do the same in the last few elections, given all this, the GOP should never win another election no matter how gerrymandered the system is if the Dems knew how to run and effective camping. I am temporarily relocated in Oregon and I have been getting campaign flyers from Ron Desantis. The Youngkin election showed just how bad Dems can be at elections. They should have never lost that one.

Where is our Rick Wilson, Lee Atwater....

The ones pleading for the self-styled "reasonable" Republicans to get methadone or whatever to treat their "hate Democrats/Liberals" addiction, admit that what the Democrats want to do is not "socialism", that even if Bernie and the Squad had a free hand to go hogwild (which they don't) the result would still be closer to "the Eisenhower administration + healthcare" than Chavez's Venezuela.

The ones asking them to admit the Democrats will be good stewards of the country while the GOP torpedoes itself with the hope of refloating it after the bigots and bottom feeders have jumped ship.

I suppose that's too much to ask, so it's all up to the Democrats while the Party of Personal Responsibility once again takes none.

How many Benghaaaaaaazi stories did you run?

How about articles finding dirt on Hillary's emails or Clinton Cash?

The idiotic "Swiftboat" claims about John Kerry?

The nonsense about Al Gore inventing the internet, or his "sighing?"

All of those stupid Whitewater era BS lies?

If you want to know one of the biggest reasons why we're in the mess we're in, it's because you, the media, didn't do your jobs. Stop expecting everyone else to clean up a mess you did more than your share to create, stop being stenographers, and start doing your jobs, for once in your idiotic lives.
