This is a nervous time now. I have job offers in Beijing and Changzhou. My wife is terrified to go to beijing now.
BTW, my wife and her small community in the rural part of Jiangsu support the protestors.

It's very, very tense. It's a powder keg right now in Shanghai and it's bleeding over into Kunshan and Suzhou too.
Personally, I believe the army will roll in and start firing again. All it will take for this to erupt is a bullet killing a child. If ten adults can spark this level of protest, then a murdered child will explode it.
Authoritarians only know one response. Brutalize unarmed protestors.

What kind of internet restrictions are there in China? I know they don't allow websites like Twitter, though they've been flooding the zone here on twitter with porn under searches for the cities where protests are being held.... But a website like DU would not fall under their radar? How closely are things monitored.
AZLD4Candidate
(5,698 posts)They have no ability to monitor non chinese websites, which is why their internet has pretty much turned into an intranet.
China has one of the most censored internet systems in the world. The CCP uses western media to propagandize, but denies its people use of the media or to even see it.
