Former President Donald Trump boasted on Monday about how he "openly and transparently" moved government records from the White House to Mar-a-Lago upon leaving office.
"...When will you invade Bill and Hillary's home in search of the 33,000 emails she deleted AFTER receiving a subpoena from the U.S. Congress?" Trump wrote on his social media website, Truth Social. "When will you invade the other Presidents' homes in search of documents, which are voluminous, which they took with them, but not nearly so openly and transparently as I did?"

(2,977 posts)Just because he stupidly did it so blatantly doesn't make it less of a crime.
"But your honor, everyone saw me rob the bank, I was completely open and transparent about it!" is not a defense.

(22,913 posts)At this point he is only issuing trial balloons, testing out what line of attack might sway at least one future juror to hold out for a not guilty verdict. I think it very unlikely Trump would get a second trial if the first one ends up with a hung jury.

(59,504 posts)Obviously, the email stuff was investigated EXTENSIVELY by the State IG, the intelligence IG, the FBI ETC, but I am curious why he expects them to be laying about in the Clinton's home.
Not to mention, these were emails that were supposed to be unclassified, as she was using that server instead of a .gov email that also was supposed to be unclassified. A minute number of documents that were not obviously classified were later determined to be classified. Far from Tump taking clearly marked classified documents, some with the highest possible classification.
When the email question started, the question was whether they were purposely avoiding archiving them. In fact, no previous SoS did and most used very little email. Clearly, during her tenure it did become an issue and Kerry and his team were assigned .gov emails and followed the practice of using them for nonclassified emails. The concern seemed to be to make sure official communications were archived.

we've seen the pics of the boxes outside on the White House grounds awaiting transport to MAL..openly and transparently..absolutely!...because no one other than Trump, Kash Patel, and John Solomon would have known those boxes contained top security documents
