United States beats Iran, 1-0, to advance to round of 16

This will piss off the Iranian goverment

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/11/29/usa-iran-world-cup/
The United States beat Iran, 1-0, on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, to secure a spot in the World Cup’s round of 16. The Americans needed to win their Group B finale to move on, and they got the result to avoid elimination after surviving some incredibly tense moments in second-half stoppage time and injuries to Christian Pulisic and Josh Sargent. The U.S. squad finished second in the group behind England and will face Group A winner Netherlands on Saturday at 10 a.m. Eastern. Continue reading for highlights from the game.

But for anyone who was waiting until later to catch the replay, well, you just had it spoiled.

7. The matches are re-broadcast later

The matches are carried live, of course, but not everyone's life can be adjusted for Qatar time, 11 hours ahead of the West Coast. But I can catch a replay of the match later today. Look up and down the forum. Several other people simply titled their posts as "World Cup - spoiler" or some such, which keeps me and others in my situation from clicking on their posts. It seems a simple enough measure to take out of consideration for fellow DUers, but apparently it's too much to ask of everyone not to put the score in their subject line.

But your snarky response is duly noted.

The irresistible lure of posting the final score in the subject line can't possibly be overcome by the simple expedient of titling one's post (for example) "US vs. Iran World Cup SPOILER." Why should anyone be considerate of others? So glad Noel Skum's influence is spreading.
