Florida PoliticsTuesday saw DeSantis, who has frequently lauded the South African natives positive effect on the social media platform, siding with Musk in his current battle with Apple.
The old regime at Twitter tried to suffocate that dissent, DeSantis argued. Elon Musk knows thats not a winning formula and hes providing free speech.
If Apple responds to that by nuking them from the App Store, I think that would be a huge, huge mistake, and a raw exercise of monopolistic power that would merit a response from the United States Congress, DeSantis said, warning the tech company against being a vassal of the Beijing government.

(11,738 posts)I have said many times on this site that Conservatives and their political vehicle, the Republican Party, have no real values except to obtain and maintain power. All of the bullshit about, "small government", "family values", etc... is irrelevant to them. They will grow government to whatever size it needs to be to achieve and maintain power. They simply do not want ANY government power to be used to benefit the average citizen.
I am not a fan of the hold on the market that either Apple or Google have regarding phones and mobile applications. They do have a virtual monopoly on how we get our information by their endorsement or denial of applications. THAT HOWEVER, is not the relevant issue here.
DeSantis wants to interfere in the supposedly "Holy" free market in order to force a company to subsidize speech which it does not want to endorse.
Think about that. The GOVERNMENT should force a private business to do business with another business just because a particular political faction agrees with the speech which the other business is espousing. If that is not an abuse of power, then I don't know what is.
