They know who their people are. They just do some dog whistle or let their media keep the worst of the worst satisfied. Murdoch tried to put him away but he gamed their system and got just enough votes to win primaries. The GOP basically represents polluters and racists. They spend an enormous amount of resources simply trying to hide that.
