Got home after 4 and my knees are killing me!!!
I got to the polling place and the line was ridiculous.
Unfortunately my polling place wasn't open on Saturday and I needed to get in there before the rain comes.
Went to get something to eat and when I returned the line was even longer.
I was last in line, and 30 minutes later the line had stretched behind me to the end of the building and curved into the street.
I noticed a lot of people using canes and wheelchairs, and the poll workers gathered them up and moved them to the front of the line. Also anyone over 75. I'm quite sure they appreciated it.
I was in line over an hour and when I left people WERE STILL COMING!!!!
The line again stretched/curved around the building into the street.
I feel good about this.

You're absolutely correct - the line of voters has been crazy long. Usually about a full hour wait. We're trained to not pull mobility impaired or elderly to the front of the line, BUT we will accept them moving to the front if citizens in the line suggest they move up. The poll workers shouldn't show preferential treatment, but will assist in providing that.
At the end of my 14-1/2 hour day, everything hurt.
As soon as I got home I put an ice pack on my knee and popped a couple Ibuprofen

(36,231 posts)It's unfair that it's easier to vote in one state than another. My state makes is soooo easy! Same day registration, early voting, vote by mail. And my republican family & acquaintances all enjoy these features, too, but they still vote for the party that doesn't want people to vote.

Plus, he put DeJoy in charge of the USPS, so you can't trust mailing them in.
So I don't have a problem standing in line.
I'll be damned if they win.

(90,740 posts)to individuals and groups talk amongst themselves, with conversations ranging from what the group is doing after, to the polite strangers answering questions about how fast the line is moving, to the weather, to concerns about being late for whatever, to the importance of voting and to hope. Which is only fitting.
Because that's what that big ball of humanity represents - Hope.
