Herschel Walker may be pulling a Dr. Oz

Throughout the duration of his senate campaign, Herschel Walker has claimed that he has deep ties to the state he’s hoping to represent in Washington — Georgia. But it turns out that the 60-year-old may be embellishing his connection to the state.

According to The Daily Beast, Walker has been living in Texas for decades. He has said, however, that he has maintained residence in Atlanta for over a decade.

It turns out that the residency he claims to have isn’t actually his. According to Fulton County tax and property records, Walker’s wife, Julie Blanchard, is the sole owner of the residence. Rental income data also shows that Blanchard collected anywhere between $15,000 to $50,000 from the home.

Walker deemed Blanchard’s Georgia home as his when he first announced his senatorial bid last August.

He first registered to vote there in October 2020. However, I was unable to find his voting history. It might be interesting to know.

Edit: He is also registered to vote in Georgia since August 2021. Voter history in Georgia is public information, and he has voted in elections there since November last year. The question is, did he vote in Texas too?

the last time he voted here was in Nov 2020

He can be registered in 2 states but can only vote in one. My daughter's registration stayed on the books for 12 years until I found out what I needed to do to get her removed.

She was also registered and voting in Arizona for those 12 years

If proven that he actually resides in TX, Walker could be disqualified outright. 🤞

https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/29/politics/georgia-senate-herschel-walker-texas-kfile/index.html

Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker, facing renewed and growing questions about his residency in the final week of the runoff campaign, described himself during a campaign speech in January as living in Texas and said he decided to run for Georgia’s Senate seat while at his Texas “home,” according to a CNN KFile review of his campaign speeches.

Georgia Democrats have called for an investigation by state officials into Walker’s residency after CNN’s KFile reported last week that Walker was getting a tax break in Texas intended for a primary residence, possibly running afoul of Texas tax law and some rules for establishing Georgia residency for voting and running for office. [snip]

On Monday, The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported that Georgia authorities have been urged in a complaint to investigate Walker’s residency. Georgia Democrats in a statement called for an immediate investigation of Walker’s residency, and Congresswoman Nikema Williams, the chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Georgia, also asked authorities to see if Walker lied about living in Georgia.

Legally you don't need to be a resident of the State until you take office. Politically, nobody who's voting for him at this point is going to care.

If Walker registered and voted in Georgia when his primary residence was in Texas (which he claimed for tax purposes), it means he committed voter fraud. If he legitimately had his primary residence in Georgia, then he apparently committed tax fraud.

But you're probably right that nobody who still plans to vote for him is likely to care about that.

instead of their home state all the time.

He is registered to vote in both states
The last time he voted in Texas was nov 2020
He voted in Georgia this year and made no attempt to vote in Texas so no voter fraud.

The tax rule for homestead exemption in Texas is: if one owns more than one residence, the exemption applies to the primary residence only. As a rule the primary residence is determined by your voter registration. So he is now living in GA and voting there but still claiming exemption on the Texas house

So he is definitely in violation of the Homestead Exemption. He has probably been underpaying his taxes for at least one tax cycle.

There has been enough publicity about this I suspect the Tarrant County Assessor/Collections office will be checking into it.
