CNN reports that the secret proceedings before Judge Howell concerned precisely whether Cipollone & Philbin's claims of executive privilege fail, & the court held that they do. Meaning the table is now set for them both to be forced to say what Trump told them. That's Incendiary.
Not that it was a collusive lawsuit, but Cipollone & Philbin were in a separate category from the others in Trump circle looking to avoid testimony. They wanted a legal ruling, but now we can expect them to be forthright and comprehensive. Their testimony figures to be devastating
And to state the obvious, DOJ's decision to fight Cipollone & Philbin's executive privilege claims shows they are moving like a freight train directly at Donald Trump.

(23,855 posts)But, my takeaway is that they were Trump's WH lawyers and they wanted a legal ruling on whether they could violate Executive Privilege. Sounds like their testimony isn't cover in criminal cases, so they have to spill the beans on Trump.
I imagine this will mean a massive clean-up of ketchups and mustards in the Mara-Lago dining room.

(4,913 posts)It's more like they are now free to testify. They were not part of the coup. I think they want to tell all. They were just waiting for legal cover and now they got it.

(4,913 posts)Trump did not want him to talk, claimed executive privilege. The WH counsel was waiting for the courts to decide. They just did and he will most likely answer all questions now that he has legal cover.

(32,356 posts)If so, don't get why they tried to say they had "executive privilege." It seems these guys gambled on a throw of the dice.
