Georgia's Republican Lt. Gov Geoff Duncan said he couldn't bring himself to vote for the Republican or Democratic candidate in his state's Senate runoff.
Duncan told CNN that he went to vote on Wednesday but ultimately didn't vote for either Republican Herschel Walker or Democratic incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock.
"I was one of those folks who got in line and spent about an hour waiting, and it was the most disappointing ballot I've ever stared at in my entire life since I started voting," he said.
He added: "I had two candidates that I just couldn't find anything that made sense for me to put my vote behind, and so I walked out of that ballot box showing up to vote but not voting for either one of them..."
Obviously he is dead wrong with regard to Sen. Warnock but at least Warnock gains on his decision anyway. Hope somewhat sane Republicans feel the same.

my daughter lives in Atlanta...during the midterms Republicans held their collective noses and voted for Walker..own the Senate/own the libs...my daughter tells me the Republican Lieutenant Governor is not alone..her Republican work colleagues have opted to stay home...good for us..

(13,417 posts)It would be like asking a kindergartener to perform open heart surgery. He simply does not have the ability to perform the tasks required of the job. His abhorrent views (or right wing puppetry) are simply additional reasons to vote against Walker.

(11,631 posts)Ignoring what he says about the candidates being equally bad, why would he make public that he couldn't support the Republican candidate?

edt: Or it could have been they were equally bad, I don't remember verbatim.

even harder. A republican big wig publicly saying he couldn't bring himself to vote for the nominee of his own party?
It doesn't get any worse than that.
He could've kept quiet and voted however he wanted but he went publc against Walker.
I say, woohoo.

(54,341 posts)He can hide behind his Republican force field all he wants, but if he doesn't want Herschel Walker representing his state in the US Senate (and what sane person would?), he either votes against Walker, or he votes for him (or abstains, which amounts to the same). That's how reality works, at least in this particular election.
I get that he thinks he is sending a signal, but it is a very weak one, and not one that will have much impact. It just facilitates his ability to say, "well, it's not MY fault that........."
