Tonight demonstrates how far the American people have come....

They have elected the first openly gay Senator (that "gentlemen's club). They have voted for marriage equality in Maine, Maryland and Washington. Marriage equality appears to be very shaky in Minnesota which I thought should have been more positive for the cause.

In my lifetime, being a gay or lesbian American has come from being something you hid from the general public and your "life" was largely confined to clubs and hangouts to openly disclosing my orientation to family, friends and employers with no negativity. Then moving to reaffirming the right of GLBT Americans to serve their nation, to marry, etc. I still cannot believe, however, we have no federal ENDA on the books.
