A watershed moment --Californians vote to raise their own taxes

Last edited Wed Nov 7, 2012, 08:42 AM - Edit history (1)

Proposition 30 is passing.

by a 7 percent margin statewide (with just 20% of the vote outstanding).

perhaps the madness of cutting our taxes by stealing from our children's education is finally nearing an end.

(edited: now leading by 8 percent with almost all the vote in --winning counties on most of the coast but also a good chunk of the Central Valley and even Imperial Valley)

AN IMPRESSIVE, BROAD WIN!

But Filner took a lead over DeMaio, the race that truly worried me...presidential, not really.

The tone from the Rs was not concession but this is not good. We will need to wait. I hope we don't have a fight, razor thin race...so is bilbray peters race, this close b

We lost on some of the ballot measures, but all in all, California had a good night.

I fear to call it...that close.

But I forgot, forgive me long night, that Bilbray is not going back.

It is what he said tonight.

Californians have stereotypically been a group that refused to raise their own taxes. This is a breath of fresh air.

but a tax measure nontheless.

it is a breath of fresh air.

also, our State Assembly will have a 69% Democratic majority, crossing a big hurdle (the 2/3rds) where the Republicans could completely stymie budget related matters.
