(10,194 posts)to get the media interested but they were not - too interested in the gov race. They certainly did not find out everything but they did realize things were not adding up with this guy. This truly is where the dems need a team of people to do some digging. I would bet if they set up a team of voters who are interested in this type of thing, they would have quite a few people, in the same way they have teams of citizens that work to solve cold cases. Something to think about in the future.

(103,050 posts)the state AG finds some way to prosecute him on fraud-related grounds and somehow convinces him to plea-bargain including resigning the seat. Theoretically, a sitting Congressman could (and have) served while under indictment and even potentially in prison.
And all that is assuming that there are some grounds to prosecute him (at all) as well as on sufficient charges to leverage the seat. He's certainly not likely to be shamed into resigning.

(870 posts)House Democrats tried to get rid of Adam Clayton Powell in 1967. Democrats were successful, but he won the special election (with 86% of the vote) to fill his vacancy and was seated.
