I mean, America has clearly repudiated the lies & distortions of Fox News (R) and its Saudi (R) investors...
So maybe America will have a chance to buy Fox News and straighten out the stinking ethical mess they have created for themselves.

So it appears America will get no support from him. As usual.

(36,418 posts)I suspect that tensions between the US and the Saudis will increase dramatically, very shortly, and we'll see Fox either adjust to that new reality or it will be further isolated and neutralized.
The next few months will be an interesting period - we will see whether the gloves come off. What we do vis-vis Syria and Iran will be very telling of whether there really is an effort by this Administration to assert some US independence from the money politics run out of the KSA and the UAE.
Bibi and his block of RW influence-peddlers and neocons -- who have been working an alliance of convenience with Riyadh -- are about to be put on ignore, as well. I'm just hoping the Israelis recognize the danger estrangement from the White House poses, and that they also change their tune (and government).

(36,418 posts)That was what Abamoff really got canned for - after 9/11 he, Scanlon and Rove extorted millions from Islamic banks and political leaders for continued access to Bush White House and top GOP Congressional leaders. Rove walked after he turned informant in some other, related matters, such as the Iraq War deception (the Plame WMD and related intelligence falsification cases)
A bunch of Republican members on a couple House committees were forced into early retirement by the FBI which for a flickering moment developed a sudden interest in the ongoing cash flow between the Saudis and US politicians. Some higher profile pols -- e.g., McCain -- were handed the task of whitewashing the thing.

How the Hell did the Repubbies ever get away with it for 5 seconds -- their phony claim to 'moral superiority.' Sweet Jayzuz. Ya got to blame the on-its-knees corporate media (R) for a walloping big chunk of this crud.

No wonder they're willing to sacrifice millions of lives around the world to please the oiligarchs and do their bidding here in America.

(7,044 posts)...of the well documented and shameful involvement of GrandPoppy Prescott Bush with Hitler and the Nazis. Another dark dark shadow in the Republican soul. There is so much in the shadow (R) that one has difficulty keeping it all in mind...
