A Knock on my 88 year old Mom's door in a German old age home a little after 5 am this morning

(which is a little after 11pm last night our time)

Her 85 year old friend from across the hall stood there with tears in her eyes as she said to my Mom: "Wir haben gewonnen!" - WE WON.

This catholic old lady prayed on her knees every day asking for Obama to win, and she kept checking with me to ask how things are going.
Her message to me just now, and to us all was: " Congratulations and be grateful because God saved America"

I also had other calls from Germany congratulating us, my 11 year old nephew said his entire class voted for Obama except for one child.

I'm just tellin' so you have a personal testimony that the whole world was watching.

I have friends in Paris, France and Glasgow, Scotland...and not too long after Ohio was called for Obama, they all sent well-wishes.

One friend in Paris said she had been holding her breath all night long waiting for the results. She is extremely pleased with Hollande but felt that the world needed Obama his leadership and direction.

many people who live outside of the US know more about our politics than many who DO live here!!

No one wanted RobMe to be elected except maybe the arms dealers and other billionaires.

Mira, can I go live with your Grandmother and friend? I'm mostly German but no one seemed to stay in contact with those who remained in Germany. Or maybe those in Germany didn't want to stay in touch with those who came to America?? LOL Supposedly my father's side came from Baden-Baden.

Thank you for sharing your story.

the world won. there are so many ways that we have won our country back from the complete corporate takeover. Because that was what this was about. It was the last piece of the plan. The outright seizure, by CONSENT of the american people , to take over the American government. The world is breathing a sigh of relief today. Europe is grinning and Asia is winking. Russia continues to be amazed by what we do. As we fight among ourselves so fiercely. But we are fucking clutch. We are exceptional sometimes.
And make no mistake, those dark forces will be back. They will be worse, and they will be smarter. But we know who they are. We know what they look like and we know what they want.

I think this meant so much to people like you mom because they would very much like to know they didn't leave a mess.

that the vote was so close nationwide at 50%-48%.

But when you factor in all the Citizen's United propaganda money, it makes it easier to understand.
I'm sure those in Germany know what that's like.

I could not find a photo of both the old ladies, but I did find this one which is a couple of months old, where Mom is clowning with my cousin and his daughter.

Happy first day of the re-elected President's term.
It's been a good one.

Really happy to read this and many of the responses down-thread

Counteracts the BS from a "friend" who posted about how Obama's US foreign policy is a disaster & the world doesn't take us seriously or something equally stupid, and how Romney would have been great for foreign policy.

Of course, that's because he's decided, with his conversion to Orthodox Judaism, that part of being a good Orthodox Jew is to worship Binyamin Netanyahu. He hates Obama for not running US foreign policy based on what's best for Likud's view of Israel.

Danke sehr for a reasonable picture of how the world REALLY views Obama & US foreign policy.

I am glad Obama won. Now we must push him to the left. There is still much change needed. Living wage jobs, curtailing carbon emissions, single payer healthcare, campaign finance reform, term limits for congress and senate, and much more. The Democrats are still beholden to the same special interests that the republicans are. Time for change means that we the people stay vigilant.

After the election, Donald Trump tweeted something to the effect of "if Obama wins, the rest of the world will be laughing at us." What planet does he live on??? The rest of the world was praying that Obama would win. If Romney had won, not only would the rest of the world have been laughing, but they would have thought "what kind of people are these Americans to vote Romney into office?" The rest of the world would have felt sorry for us!
