What was it that Tweety had to apologize for? (Original Post) CTyankee Nov 2012 OP

and he said something to the effect that Hurricane Sandy was a good thing for the campaign, which of course sounded awful. Obviously he only meant the political outcome but it sounded pretty insensitive.

He was glad we had Super storm Sandy last week....it brought in possibilities for good politics. He issued a sincere apology first thing on his show tonight.

by the time I got home I was too tired to even think straight. Managed to stay awake long enough to hear the president's acceptance speech and then passed out myself.

when criticizing Obama's speech ... not that it was a big deal, but in concert with the Sandy comments, it was pretty obvious he doesn't need to be on the air anytime after midnight. I do appreciate his sincere apology and hope folks accept it and put it behind them.

just as I was dozing off... I agree it was a sincere apology. Matthews is all about the "process" and I think the lack of sleep was showing long before 3 am. He's not a youngster anymore and he's a diabetic...that takes a toll.

It comes out of your mouth and a split second later you want to shrivel up and die! I did that in a course in grad school but thankfully my professor was kind and knew it was just an offhand remark (I was mortified that I had said it).

Sh*t happens. These guys should really take sleep deprivation more seriously. It is not a silly thing to appreciate and understand your body. Take care! You never know when it can mean a lot!

You are absolutely correct about sleep deprivation and to make it worse, Matthews will be 67 next month and has Type II diabetes...he needs to give up the super late nights.

It's not like he says things like that on a regular basis. I think it's wrong to condemn any and everyone who has ever said something thoughtless with the loss of their livelihood. You are, of course, entitled to your own opinion, I will simply hope that if you make some serious mistake in the future, you are given some consideration and not crucified for it.

He's been a political junkie his entire adult life...you would strip him of that for one thoughtless, sleep deprivation induced remark? Should Ed Schultz have been fired for calling Laura Ingraham a slut? These were mistakes not the regular borderline criminal abuse tactics of Limbaugh or Coulter. If people are not allowed to make mistakes just who will ever be willing to provide the services needed?

I understand what he meant. The storm was horrible; I wish it didn't happen, but it was an ill wind that blew some good: it really showed that government is needed. Much better if it hadn't happened.

He was exhausted and it showed.

was the real winning deal here. Without that, they would not have had what they had going for them before the storm. The storm was actually not a very good thing (could have seriously impeded and did impede (a bit) .
