And you know what else besides sadistic, atavistic human-animal hate, murderous viciousness?
Sheer incompetence.
These lame-ass out of shape bastards must have watched the film Mulholland Falls and saw themselves as a version of The Hat Squad.
Speedy trial and fifty-year sentences. No parole before 48 years.
Dont throw away the key: Mount a facsimile above the door in each cell.

No one should be fearful when they look in the rear-view mirror and see a cop. They should be there to help us and not fuck with us constantly. So you have a broken tail light and you could be putting your life in danger when a cop pulls you over?
Fuck'em!

(14,176 posts)everyone has been complimenting the Memphis Police Chief and, to be fair, she's done a good job in the wake of this barbarous beating. She fired the cops quickly and got the video out in near-record time.
But everything I've heard indicates that this special division of MPD was pretty out of control, something like the Rampart Division of LAPD was back in the day, and I hope we learn more about that and the organizational rot that allowed these cops to believe they could behave like this. Who are their supervisors and what kind of culture are they permitting? And the Chief has to bear some responsibility for that, too, because when we learn about these acts of brutality, it's never the first time the cop or cops did it; just think how much we learned about Chauvin's history after he murdered George Floyd.
I'm so fucking tired of people saying "oh, they need better training." No. They need to eliminate a system that insulates them from consequences for their actions and would rather send them on a paid vacation known as "administrative leave" when people force them to investigate their own even though we know in almost all cases their investigation will result in them finding no wrongdoing.

If they say he did something illegal, their job was to put him in a cop car and take him to the station.
Not let him lie on the street while they chat and mill about.
Geez.
