Political narratives have been forced on people. OWS gets people to follow their own reality: the

list of things, in people's hearts and minds, that are important to them. That is why it resonates. People are tired of being told how to think. The right is more guilty of imposing a singular view. It has used the MSM, religion, business schools, moral suasion to impose one single reality on Americans on the right. How can democrats capitalize on this desire people have to be true to themselves, and their multiple realities, without impozing it on followers from upon high? Since 40% of the electorate are now independants, it would make sense for Obama to appeal to the individual in the same manner Steve Jobs did with Apple ad campaigns.

So how can we turn something genuine and turn it into a cheap, political trick? Short answer, we can't and for that I am thankful. If Obama wants to harness that energy, he can put on this parka and pick up a sign.

4. This the dilemma isn't it. As democrats we have been following that tactics of the GOP

for the last 30 years. They create a narrative, democrats create a narrative. They triangulate, democrats triangulate. They run a perpetual campaign, democrats do. But all this politcal control, which, let us face it, is based on the tools of the psychopath, is pissing people off. And rightly so. How do you connect with real people, in a real way, without 'forcing' or 'managing' them...which they will hate? I'm asking what the old time ways of connecting were, before madison ave and Karl Rove. What is real leadership? Because the democrats are a big tent and the natural governing party as they support the needs of various groups in a way the GOP doesn't.

5. The imposition of a singular view vs multiple realities is a very interesting observation, however

it seems to me that Obama being part of the establishment is himself emeshed in a singular view. Only people on the margins like artists are interested in multiple realities.
