Never ... not once while I was in the Army ... did I ever run into an officer like this.

(71,611 posts)What's not confirmed is whether SHE's the "extra-marital affair". She WAS, however, Patraeus' biographer and had EXTENSIVE "access" to him. She wrote a book .... that's VERY complimentary. She's former Army.
if it was just an affair, meh. Although I do realize that CIA head cheeses can't get away with it as easily as say, a President like Clinton. for national security reasons.
but if it's related to real leaks and not just what could happen leaks, well well, that's a whole bigger thing.

(14,040 posts)The head of the Senate Intelligence Committee said Tuesday that she shouldn't have speculated about the White House's responsibility for national security leaks because she didn't know the source of the unauthorized disclosures.

Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed two attorneys to lead the investigation into who leaked information about U.S. involvement in cyberattacks on Iran and about an al-Qaida plot to place an explosive device aboard a U.S.-bound airliner.
Just speculation on my part but if this woman is the "mistress" and she had access to Patraeus' email/computer, it would make sense that she is being investigated for leaking certain information. Whether or not she did any of this (mistress or leaker) is yet to be confirmed.

kind of reminds me of John Edwards with Hunter before we knew what was really going on. They were smiling like this too.

someone like Patraeus probably meets hundreds of people each year.
actually, it's probably surprising that affairs don't happen more often.

(40,221 posts)is that General Patraeus is a fool and an idiot.
Maybe he was so wrapped up in a love triangle gone haywire, that he really did fuck things up in his job as Director of the CIA.
