Libya instructors master new teaching methods

A brand new programme aimed at helping Libyan secondary schoolteachers of English acquire new methodologies is well under way. Launched in Az Zawiyah and Tripoli late last month, it will cover the entire country by the end of this year.

The goal is to help participating instructors learn new ways of communicating information to students and prepare lessons using modern devices. Participants also learn how to manage classroom in a modern way, obtain sources and employ information technology.

In Az Zawiyah and Tripoli, 250 instructors took part in the event, which was held December 21st-22nd by the education ministry. The 50 best instructors will be integrated in a three-week specialised course on modern teaching methodologies approved by the University of Cambridge.

The group will then be able to spread the knowledge among their colleagues and contribute to disseminating an interactive teaching culture and relinquishing old instruction-based methods.
