Today, the Board of Elections certified the results that Patrick Murphy defeated Allen West in Tuesday's election. But, Allen West is in fact continuing to refuse to concede despite the final vote. West's campaign manager was quoted today saying, "We're simply not going to just walk away from the race until we see that the numbers add up."
West's only potential path forward is through a lengthy legal battle. His next court case is next week and his legal battle will continue for however long Allen West decides to dig in his heels. We must continue to be prepared for a long and lengthy battle. Please consider a gift to help Patrick protect the vote today.
Thank you for all you have done to help Patrick win. We hope that Allen West will put this behind him now that the votes are certified and we can all start to move Florida foward. We will continue to keep you posted.
Onward,

(12,417 posts)just because he wants to file frivolous lawsuits. I can't believe Murphy can't start work in Janruary....tell me it isn't so.
I don't know the technical issues.

(1,698 posts)Where else is he going? Huh? Tell me. Who wants this batshit crazy son-of-a-bitch in their office, restaurant, hell hole if they intend to make a profit? Crazy and arrogant = unemployed. Not even other crazy and arrogant assholes will hire him because they don't like competition. He's got his military pension. Just let him run himself out until he disappears down that long, dark hallway to the quiet room.
Bye Allen

(27,452 posts)West can file whatever he wants but it won't change the outcome. Why would Murphy have to foot the bill for any of this?
If West shows up for work in January it seems to be that the police can have him removed from the premises.

(40,416 posts)If Al Gore had conceded on that election night in 2000, and the votes came in that put him over the top in FL, he would have been the certified winner in spite of the concession, and would have been inaugurated the next Jan.
Concessions mean nothing. Is there even anything in the law about them? I think not. You win by the votes not by your opponent(s) conceding.

This is nuts.

This is cautious legal tactics.

(40,168 posts)West lost, Murphy was declared the winner.
Why does Murphy have to be responsible for any "costs"?

(40,168 posts)I wouldn't spend a damned nickel to answer that crackpot's suit.
As long as Murphy is certified by the state of Florida, West will get laughed out of court.
What exactly would this nitwit be suing Murphy for, anyway? The state counted the ballots, and Murphy had more than West. Murphy didn't harm West.
(If this was for real, no one would ever run for office, anywhere)
