Local NBC News just reported that US Representative Colin Allred is likely to announce his Senate campaign later this week. A young Democratic superstar who turned a largely North Dallas House seat blue for the first time in decades. Articulate, former NFL player and Baylor graduate with pro-business' credentials. Allred is the best possible candidate the Democrats could hope to recruit for the race

(4,772 posts)but it is critical that we win back the House and losing his seat especially if this was recently a red district would really hurt. The chances of beating Cruz in Texas at this time are very slim.

(22,919 posts)targeting Democratic Senate incumbents. It is worth spending money against Cruz so Republicans can't take holding onto that seat for granted. And in a year when Abortion will be on the ballot, who knows, maybe we can even win there. If not, Democrats investing in Texas races now helps hasten the day when we will be able to win state wide there.

(7,413 posts)With high turnout plus Cruz is one of the least likable people on earth. Trump beat Biden by 6% in 2020 and then Abbott beat Beto by 11% in 2022. Unless Texas has actually trended more Red like Florida due mostly to COVID induced migration.
