Witness says E Jean Carroll called her 'hyperventilating' after alleged rape by Trump

(Guardian UK) A close friend of E Jean Carroll has told a New York jury she received a distressed call from the advice columnist within minutes of Donald Trump allegedly raping her.

Lisa Birnbach testified at Carroll’s civil action against the former president on Tuesday that she was feeding her children at home when Carroll called “breathless, hyperventilating, emotional” in spring 1996.

“She said: ‘Lisa, you’re not going to believe what happened to me’,” Birnbach said.

The magazine writer and editor described Carroll giving a brief description of meeting Trump at the entrance to the luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman and how they decided to shop together. Birnbach said Carroll described Trump pinning her to a changing room wall and assaulting her.

“E Jean said to me many times, ‘He pulled down my tights, he pulled down my tights,’ almost like she couldn’t believe it had just happened to her,” she said. ..............(more)

Since, i assume, there are no Republican US Senators in the jury, Carroll's case might be successful 70sEraVet May 2023 #2

Leeds said she saw Trump three years later, when she was volunteering at a Humane Society event.

“He looked at me and he said, ‘I remember you, you’re that c—- from the airplane,’” Leeds said. “It was like a bucket of cold water thrown over my head.”

But Birnbach’s remained the most significant testimony of the day.

This was Senator Orin Hatch's statement on the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford's testimony accusing Kavanaugh of trying to rape her when they were teenagers:

Hatch has said that Ford must be "confused" or "mixed up" about her encounter with Kavanaugh in high school, and has argued that even if her allegations were "true" they shouldn't have any bearing on senators' decision to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court

Funny, how Republicans, who always seem to want to take the country back to some earlier time, never are interested in confronting the sins of that earlier time.
