Catholics in Kansas

Recently opened a church in St Marys at a cost of 42 million dollars. Elsewhere in Kansas republicans in the state legislature this year tried and failed to change the state education budget to allow for public funds to be paid to private and religious schools. Thanks for the veto Governor Kelley. Meanwhile one half of the separation of church and state is alive and well.

Conservatives have no respect for the separation. I muse on occasion of ending it. Then we would have to turn loose the assessors. Then we might find out what conservatives respect.

4. The sect (SSPX) that built that church is not recognized by the Catholic Church.

I'm sure that there are plenty of Catholics in Kansas who are decent people. Don't lump them all in with the folks who built this church.

I know of the sect. Not far from St Marys a real live Catholic Church spent over 400,000 dollars on a new rectory and there are at least two more in the state Capitol. I left the Catholic Church. Number one priority, raising money. I am of the belief that Catholics, and others would be greatly disappointed if Jesus Christ came back to earth to check on those using his name.

And regardless whether your church is good or bad your church should abide by the separation of church and state in the land of the free. The Catholic Church in Kansas spent over 4 million dollars last year trying to pass a STATE constitutional amendment to ban abortion. Money that could have been spent in Christlike pursuits instead of financing a losing campaign.

And the church’s response to sexual allegations against priests was your run of the mill craftily worded coverup.

I don’t need the well funded middleman to be Christlike.

(i.e. Nuns on the Bus). They're good people, work to elect Democrats, and are very strong believers in the separation of church and state. They're true to their mission.

Isn’t it interesting that Christlike Nuns work to elect Democrats, while an Archbishop in Kansas got in bed with republicans in an effort to codify a religious belief.

I’m an old Guy and have long thought that females reach maturity about the age of 16 while males never reach maturity.

I laud you for working in education and I “pray” that politicians stay the heck out of your way.

and women are more liberal than men. That's a real shocker. It's almost like walking into a grocery store and noticing differences among the political views of shoppers.

8. If you want a separation of Church and State

Why makes you think you have any say about whether any denomination that builds a church? Your primary complaint is that this group and another built a church, and of course to single out Catholics, which is as American as cross burning on people's lawns. You might look into the history of anti-Catholic bigotry and violence in this country.

Or you could take this to the religion forum.

I don’t have a say ergo the separation. My primary complaints is that the Catholic Church and others have a tax exempt status as they should and ergo should stay out of the business of the state. I’m well versed on anti Catholic bigotry. I’m also well versed on todays church spending to codify and lavishly spending on itself while telling us all about what Christ would do. I’m all for the Church involving itself in the affairs of state, right after it voluntarily gives up its tax exempt status.

I stated a Church spent 400,000 on a rectory. It was 600,000 for the first two phases, or, in other words, about 120,000 meals on wheels.

The cost of the St Marys Church would have paid for more then 8 million meals on wheels. WWJD? And St Marys will bask in the glory of the land of the free with a sweet tax exempt status, while staying out of the states business, if it wants to. If I keep typing I’m going to start a church of my own.

………the discussion about women’s rights until coffee in case it all went to shit. $42 million for a building to help you feel closer to your god might be the deal of the week. The Hubble Space Telescope cost in excess of $10 billion dollars. That’s what I takes to get ths godless heathen in the mood.
