I don't believe I have, stress can make someone cry a lot like she did. I imagine going to that school and having to memorize all those verses can be very stressful.

8. The fundy "Bible" church I grew up in would have one Biblical phrase as a VBS theme each yr.

Each letter of that phrase would correspond to a verse that started with that letter. Teens had to memorize the verses, recite them, cite them, and explain them. My brother and I only went because our parents made us (but most of the time they didn't attend). One year my brother got really tired of the same girl winning the contest each year, so he absolutely busted his butt just so he could beat her -- and he did (I was so proud of him!). I was 7 yrs younger than my brother and my earliest memory is being chosen to lead the kindergarten class into the "parent's night" presentation carrying the Christian flag while we marched in singing "Onward Christian Soldiers".

I ended up having nerve/anxiety issues directly related to that church and it's teachings which is how I was able to get out of going there by the time I was 9yo. Thankfully I only had to be on the anxiety meds a couple of years after I was allowed to stop attending.

My neighbors/landlords (who took us there weekly) were good people, but total nuts about religion.
