Hit the nail on the head, pointing out that the guy should be labelled as a danger to democracy, that his candidacy is nothing more than continuing the coup, revenge and his lies shouldn't be given attention. The thing that news should focus on his his danger to democracy.
I've thought all along that the media legitimizes him by covering him without paying any attention to the content of his message or the danger he poses to democracy. It's just business as usual and its money.

(5,104 posts)Greene came off like the dangerous extremist loon that she is.
That was important work by Lesley Stahl, exposing Greene to a mass audience.

(92,554 posts) Following the release of the sit-down, Stahl was criticized for allowing Greene to hijack the conversation, failing to adequately call out the lawmakers false claims, and normalizing the extremists unhinged behavior.
I have known Lesley Stahl for more than 40 years, worked alongside her for many election weeks. She has been a great journalist, but this is a disgraceful, cringeworthy performance. Shameful to the max, tweeted Norman Ornstein, an emeritus scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.

and if you called Sthal pushing back when MTG characterized Democrats as a party of pedophiles, it was a pretty lame pushback.

I watched the show live on-air. Lesley Stahl did this country a great service.

"I find it very hard to defend the choice to give Trump a live platform," says Chris Hayes. "But that's one of the challenges he presents as networks begin the work of campaign coverage during a presidential election which centers on the guy who tried to kill American democracy." - Aired on 05/03/2023.
