It's simple: when the pawn moves all the way across the board, it can be queened.

If a pawn makes it all the way across the board without being captured, you can then transform your pawn into another queen (or rook, or bishop, or knight, but players almost always choose a queen.) If this is the case and your original queen is still on the board, you can turn a captured rook upside down. This universally signifies a queen.

And is going to slip down around her head any second.

I really wish that she and Charles had married back in the day. They would have been so much happier and a whole series of tawdry messes could have not happened. And Diana would probably still be alive, and happily married to someone else, and we'd never have heard of her.

Damn history sometimes.

I don't know why those crowns have that velvet insert. The whole design is kind of goofy.
