This is Colin Allred. He is a Democrat. He is the U.S. representative from Texas's 32nd congressional district. He was a linebacker in NFL, but quit the league to go to law school. He then went on to work at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He then practiced law as a voting rights litigator. And now he's running to defeat Ted Cruz.

(16,646 posts)This is written to appeal to people like us at DU. Not sure this appeals to the people that will vote for Cruz. It will probably raise money for his campaign. They'll need to get to a place though where their ads influence those fence sitters that might actually be ready to switch.

(95,060 posts)These announcement videos are intended to create blogosphere "buzz" and encourage some fundraising. They're never intended to convince voters, most of whom don't hand out on social media and political sites.
When he calls me, I'll listen to his pitch, but the fact that -I- don't like Cruz won't influence my opinion about whether he's beatable.

(95,060 posts)But we CAN start prioritizing.
I'll be repeating my mantra that, with finite resources, the dollars you give to a pipe-dream race are dollars you aren't giving to hold on to the Senate seats in MT and OH, or winning back the House.

(37,174 posts)(Cruz) will open their accounts. They dont want Allreds in the House or the Senate. This will be fun to watch. I predict Ted wont debate him. And yeah Beto, get on allreds team.

(3,351 posts)Cruz has overstayed his welcome, if he even ever was. He needs to go.
Colin Allred, is the ticket. He'll stand up for the needs the citizens of Texas, the guy who's in there now, can't begin to imagine doing.
