In 2020-21, the Democratic party under Biden's leadership re-took the White House and maintained control of the House and Senate. Additionally, the Democrats edge ever so slowly towards traditional Social Democratic policies such as the additional stimulus checks, child tax credits, the Build Back Better program, and limited cancellation of student loan debt which was later blocked by the SCOTUS. These policies scare America's oligarch class. The US is the only developed nation on the planet with the, comparatively, lowest taxes and regulations schemes on the planet. These oligarchs do not want us to emulate the taxes and regulations of nations like Canada or Norway or Japan.

They're more afraid of the Democrats turning towards more progressive economic policies than they are about Trump and the Republican party's complete disdain for our democracy and our democratic institutions. The gave a platform to a leader who prodded his followers to violently over take the US Capitol.

There are some very wealthy individuals that realize the dangers of Fascism to their wealth, but I think they are in the minority, especially amongst the American Gentry.
