The Lauren-Jayson Boebert Divorce saga is brilliant marketing on her part

Being a sex-offender, he was a boat anchor to her aspirations. Any time she brought up any sort of rant that even alluded to sex / sexuality or gender, someone would throw back at her that she knowingly married a sex offender who exposed himself to young women.

And it's working for her. So far, she's successfully been able to pull even people left-of-center to "her" side in the divorce despite nobody knowing any details of the "irreconcilable differences" involved. Mostly because people see a story about her and just have to comment on it. But it still pulls them every so slightly in her direction, and serves to disconnect her from some of the disgust people felt for her.

- Too cynical?

She's got her reasons, and it doesn't matter what they are.

Yep, she married a pervert at an early age and has apparently found that was not a good decision.

I don't think these kinds of things should be viewed through the lens of whether it helps or hurts politically.

There was that Democratic politician a while back in Florida whose divorce became a matter of public comment. I don't recall the details, but it all was very unseemly.

People get divorced. Yes, it's frowned upon by the "family values" crowd in the GOP who regularly support divorced politicians like Reagan and Trump.

It’s party time!

The incoming Republicans back in 1992 or 1994 had a lot of divorces. Not just the guys either. It was party time for everyone.

His ex-wife accused him of abuse throughout the marriage. The allegations appear to have been debunked. Their children refuted all allegations and revealed a history of emotional and physical aggression by their mother.

Grayson was an abrasive, but effective politician. The Right Wing jumped at the chance to sully his name.

Divorce happens. I went through a divorce. Neither myself nor my ex are BAD people. Our marriage simply did not work. I have no problem with divorce. My problem is that Lauren is equally scummy to her husband.

Divorce for "others" is frowned upon by right wingers, they have no problem with promiscuity, adultery, abortion, etc... for themselves. They simply want to impose a "moral code" on people they consider "lesser than". That is my problem. Boebert sets herself up as this "Christian" holier than thou person when she has done all kinds of disgusting shit in her own life. Instead of developing a sense of compassion for the failings of others, they pontificate about bullshit they can't even do.

As I have said in other threads, I really don't care to waste too much time on this, and given the lack of moral compass within the Conservative movement, which appears to be getting less and less important, she will not likely suffer politically. I will however, enjoy her fall, should it happen, though I dislike that I feel that way.

speak so much political crap and dribble between now and the election in November 2024 that no one by that time will even remember she got divorced.

The rumors range from her boinking a male staffer in their 20s to her husband actually being the father of the 15 year old her son impregnated.

None of this helps give her any credibility

No, but she isn't about to become senator or governor of Colorado. She has peaked in life.

She found a really good, cushy gig that even she can do if she just follows the most hedonistic path* & does what everyone else in the party does. Just read the room, and follow along.

"In 2020, US Rep. Lauren Boebert earned a GED diploma just months before she won her seat in the US House of Representatives.
A spokesperson for Lauren Boebert confirmed that the congresswoman (aged 34) had received her GED in 2020 after participating in an online GED prep course."

Gohmert ran for AG, but didn't make the threshold. Perhaps he aspires to governorship, but it really does have more oversight and tends to be short lived.

Like everything else in her life she’s stuck with that decision like a bad tattoo. It will follow her forever. Because she’s THAT bad a person.

I really do not think most people left of extreme Maga have even considered that they should pick a side. There are as many reasons not to think she is fit to be a Congressperson completely independent of who she married and the state of her marriage.

But I also feel she may have very effectively removed what she sees as a "gotcha" statement that people were using against her. All she has is some pretty shallow rhetoric, so removing objections to it for her is key.

She married him knowing exactly what he did. That doesn't disappear. Not to mention, it really isn't the perfect response. It moves from the accsation at hand and tries to make the issue her or her husband. Oddly, it might indirectly seem to CONFIRM her almost always ludicrous attacks to those who don't know better.

but being a little too granular about it. I doubt this will have any impact on the future - she already commits plenty of idiocy on her own and people still consider her trashy.

What I DO think might happen is Jayson being a real pig about it and that might make a good story.
