They went to commercial, but they will probably hack at this every hour at least.
No mention of Cantor at all, of course.

(1,773 posts)One thing about people in power,
even separate power factions will band together
if they're threatened by an outsider.
I suspect Cantor and other members of Congress
agreed to stonewall the story until after the election.

(21,024 posts)This information never reached the intelligence committees. Dave Reichert told Cantor. Did Boehner know? I also find it hard to believe the FBI director Muller never gave the President a heads up. Don't these people talk to one another? If Obama was kept in the dark he must be righteously pissed. It just strikes me as a very strange way to run a government.

Somebody was digging around,
the Patraeus affair was apparently an "open secret",
they tried to drag it in to influence the election
and Congress / FBI decided to stonewall
and not let it be used that way.

(36,437 posts)The fact that he went to Cantor rather than immediately back to the FBI is a serious issue indeed. he could get time for this.
Cantor at least covered himself. he met with an FBI employee leaking information about an ongoing investigation and went directly back to the FBI with it. He covered himself. Reichert, on the other hand, may be criminally liable.
