Any idea what it means that Special Counsel Jack Smith is wrapping up the Mar-A-Lago investigation?

I'm sure Nicole had tons of guests on today to analyze this development on MSNBC. Alas, I'm still working so couldn't watch. Any other sources indicating whether charges are likely or unlikely? Any speculation as to when we will know? That is the key qustion now, isn't it?

this isn't something that prosecutors are likely to sit on. Also think Merrick Garland will OK it.

4. Thanks for the update! I assume the AG will wait until the debt ceiling is resolved

My belief is twofold. First, McCarthy will deliberately destroy the US if he knows that an indictment of his hero is coming. Second, AG Garland knows this, so will probably hold the indictment announcement for a week or two, so it doesn't get held for ransom.

They are not negotiating in good faith, anyway. I can't imagine how the Repubs would communicate the idea of "let him go and we will not crash the economy." Kudos to you, though, for thinking of this unique perspective. It is interesting.

I think Garland will pull the trigger on this as soon as Jack makes his recommendation. Meanwhile, Joe will probably have to use the 14thA, anyway. He needs it even more so, if the Repubs would use the debt ceiling to save the Orange Turd.

Garland better not wait! If they can get Trump on bigger espionage charges, like finding out WHO he showed the docs to, that's one thing. That would be worth waiting for, as part of our National Defense probe of assessing damages. But otherwise, there will be no reason to wait. At least, none that we can see.

It sounds like wishful thinking from some quarters. Who would very much like the matter to go away.

I guess only time will tell from our vantage point.

5. Tomorrow the National Archives will deliver the 16 documents on TFG and declassification rules

Those documents may be the last documents that Jack Smith needs for this investigation. The Special Counsel will either present to the Grand Jury or make the decision to decline prosecution

he just subpoenaed a bunch of drumpf-org documents yesterday looking for financial statements. That will touch off more months of delay/appeal/stall/motion/procrastinate......... on and on forever
