It is not as though [Christian conservatives] did not put up a fight; they went all out as never before: The Rev. Billy Graham dropped any pretense of nonpartisanship and all but endorsed Mitt Romney for president. Roman Catholic bishops denounced President Obamas policies as a threat to life, religious liberty and the traditional nuclear family. Ralph Reeds Faith and Freedom Coalition distributed more voter guides in churches and contacted more homes by mail and phone than ever before.
Millions of American evangelicals are absolutely shocked by not just the presidential election, but by the entire avalanche of results that came in, R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Louisville, Ky., said in an interview. Its not that our message we think abortion is wrong, we think same-sex marriage is wrong didnt get out. It did get out.
Its that the entire moral landscape has changed, he said. An increasingly secularized America understands our positions, and has rejected them.

(13,588 posts)by extremists. Someone has to have the total number of abortion bills we had in this Congress. I think I heard in the 30's. I guess that's mainly grandstanding by teabaggers. They can crow about their bill back home.
Most of us don't lay awake at night worrying about abortion. I just talked to a buddy the other day and we agree, some girl that has nothing going for her and her boyfriend is a loser she's not even that interested in, if she has an abortion she potentially saves us alot of money. Unfortunate anyone has to go through that, but that's the way it is. Of course we can't have Democrat Congress members going around saying that, the right would have a shit fit!
I had another conversation with a conservative friend. He's one of my first bosses and doesn't like the tea party much. We agree that we wish everyone would just STFU about religion world wide.
The evangelicals are up against alot of people that sit back and shake their heads at what they are pushing. The don't get as much negative feedback as they should. It comes out of nowhere and bites them in the ass!

Gees! You would think that these idiots would catch on. The United States has a secular government. It is one of the most brilliant things that the founders accomplished; that which few or none had done before them.
But they don't get it. Pshaw!
Whatta ya gonna do? Beat them with a clue stick? Huh!?

(6,169 posts)the complete and utter contempt Christian conservatives have for the poor, the sick, the needy, the strangers....the "least among us". These were Jesus' main concerns. You call yourselves Christians, but you're a bunch of hypocrites. I, for one, am glad to see you defeated.

(8,339 posts)Yes, decent people reject the "morality" of conservative "Christians", which is: hate, bigotry, cruelty, selfishness, and deliberate ignorance.

(100,076 posts)Conservative Christians have been out of control since the Reagan era - with pundits and preachers like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, hate mongers like Bryan Fischer and Rick Warren, just preaching violence and hate over the things that Jesus actually said. This election should be a wake up call - no, a slap in the face - to those beliefs. They need to get it through their skulls that this garbage has to stop if we want to return prosperity to our society.

You broke the Second Commandment. By being "biblical literalists" you turned the Bible itself into an idol. You placed the letter of the law above the spirit, and people rightly rejected you.

(11,075 posts)and they're surprised that it was rejected?? Did they honestly believe that people would happily vote for the party that wanted to make their most personal decisions for them?
