Ahhh Hell I am just going to ask: Was Petraeus supposed to be the "October Surprise"?

Just wondering because I have to wonder "who" had enough clout to have the FBI start investigating threats in emails?
Who does that?
Or were these emails discovered by some House committee that was doing some snooping and decided to try to make political hay out of it knowing it wouldn't lead to anything but hoped it would hurt Obama's chances by not having a chance to investigate it?
But unfortunately, the story broke a day late?

Petraeus is a republican and he would be a hero if he took down Obama...even if it was his own affair.
I know ....but there are parts of this story that just don't make sense.

Romney was actually winning this thing and didn't want to distract from the "Romneymentum" so they kept it hidden until their bubble burst on election night and they wept.

Those who attacked the embassy knew where the CIA safe house in Benghazi was, or at least was supposed to have been a safe place for the Americans there in Libya, but . . .

When it happened, before DU picked it up, some great photos of Libyans standing peacefully in their streets with good easily readable signs, a few of which were English. That's how I found out that Ambassador Stevens had been killed. Someone had photoshopped the 2-3 english signs in the group, to be together. All of the rest of the signs were in Arabic, Libya was communicating with its Arab community. It was beautiful. All of the faces were uncovered and everyone was so solemn and beautiful. It made me cry.

Those photos are here on DU somewhere from late 9/11/12 to 9/12/12. We had a discussion about the photoshopping. I figured out that someone was just putting the 2-3 widely far apart english signs, in a sea of arabic street signs, saying how sad all of them are that Ambassador Stevens was killed. They thanked him for his service to Libya.

So sad.

9. Petraeus is a republican

He is adored by the republicans. Canto knew about this before the election. I think the republicans kept it under wraps to help themselves. If it came out that the man they believe to be the most honorable person in the party, a man above reproach was involved in such a sordid affair it would only hurt themselves.
