That's OK. That is your right. When a monster like Trump is having a second go at tearing democracy apart, these are sounds of silence.

I don't remember any posts about CTE except in relation to football players.
Maybe try the Health forum?

(9,345 posts)NFL payers are well compensated. So what if their average life expectancy is 55 years old?

(2,681 posts)I have seen up close mental decline which I suspect is the result of CTE. The effect on the family is heavy. Some months back, a retired sports broadcaster, who had played in the NFL, was revealed to have suffered from CTE. Recently, a retired NFL player succumbed to the condition. He lived a long life, but many of his final years were a struggle because of CTE.

(70,395 posts)its a lesson in the butterfly effect. i still had glitches til a couple yrs ago when a course of hi dose edibles blew most of them away.
it took my singing voice.
it made me a klutz. i couldnt throw/catch a ball. i couldnt skate.
i had seizures/hallucinations for a decade. i was an outcast and i had no idea why. i just thought i was stupid, all evidence to the contrary.
ive tried to get a couple state leges i know to add a line to the school health forms asking about head trauma.
in cook county, a kid in juvie can get scans go prove diminished capacity. its a process, tho. they should check every kid. justice rly needs to catch up w neurology. axis 1 dxs arent the only thing that makes it impossible to tell right from wrong.
i tweet at chgo electeds about this and lead. we have a completely flimsy building code when it comes to lead. and we dont routinely test kids. also should be part of a school physical. of course, theres no good treatments for it. prove a kid is impaired and you likely will have to provide services, so

(1,202 posts)As a boxer and wrestler my whole life, I was fully aware of the risks as a young boy when I entered the gym. Every one of my coaches knew the risks and imparted them to me both verbally and in how they trained me to avoid as much punishment as possible. I also knew that it was a futile attempt. It was a choice I chose to make. Perhaps football payers weren't aware, but nonetheless it was self-inflicted. I've been living with cognitive decline/impairment for about 20 years. It's a struggle for me each and every day, but I don't expect any special treatment from others, or even attention. Those close to me know what's up.
