This man is scary-delusional. He gave up punditry and is now going for cult-leader. He also holds these appearances in arenas where he speaks and intertwines religion & govt so tightly you can hear our Founders rolling over in there graves. He brings fake props/replicas of historic items like the Liberty Bell & Constitution on stage and dupes idiots into believing they're the real thing. He has become an evangelist cult leader propaganda machine. People in the audience sway as if he is a messiah, not even realizing they're instead listening to the anti-Christ. (This is just his regular show, not his arena show. Obviously)
"GOD IS STALKING US, AND HE'S NOT GOING TO LEAVE US ALONE"
People have been institutionalized for saying things like that.

(111,261 posts)but got into the wrong religion for it. That doesn't stop him from trying, bless his heart (I say that in the southern sense).
People like him were institutionalized many years ago but that was before Reagan and others like him destroyed the state mental health hospitals without replacing them with the community based infrastructure we were promised.
In fact, the quickest route to the loony bin even in bible soaked North Carolina was saying god was talking to you.
Unfortunately, they're now free and unmedicated and they not only vote, they've been given access to the public airwaves. The only tool we have is to lodge complaints with the FCC if they're broadcasting on air instead of on a paid service.

(37,160 posts)Christ, that camera work is making me seasick.
And when Glen Beck is involved, the other end of the digestive tract gets disturbed too. 'Scuse me for a few minutes, off to the loo.

(1,005 posts)I remember way back when he was working in his mother's bakery in Mt. Vernon, WA. He was just weird then but look what he's done. He has proven America is, indeed, the land of opportunity. And, you don't even have to be sane to become a multi-millionaire. I always counted my change after paying him. It wasn't that I distrusted him. I just figured he wasn't smart enough to get it right. Now he can buy me a thousand times over.

(794 posts)through-out human history there have been "end of days" forecasters. Beck is nothing new, as far as millenium scare tactics go- what is new about Beck is the disturbing amount of credence he is given by the new Republican/F*X "News" party. America's history is littered with paranoid, hate-driven racist crusaders. They were almost always treated like the anti-American radicals that they were by both partys (McCarthy comes to mind), but now that teabaggers are driving the gop bus, any nut with a conspiracy theory and racist animus is invited along for the ride. A weak and insane republican party hurts all of America. Without a functioning voice, the conservative school of thought is absent from the important job of governing America and expanding liberty. I hope the fairness doctrine gets reinstated sometime soon; it would go a long way towards healing the GOP.
