.
A woman who during the 2020 presidential campaign accused Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her announced on Tuesday that she was defecting to Russia.
Tara Reade made the announcement during a press conference on Russian state television in which she appeared with convicted spy Maria Butina.
Reade, who served as a Biden aide from 1992 to 1993, alleged that then-Senator Biden assaulted her in 1993 at a Capitol Hill office building.

(118,965 posts)love a scandal that cannot be disproven for a time. This woman saying she is in danger and now lives in the dangerous country of Russia is just that.
In Canada Trudeau had a special rapporter study foreign interference in elections because the Intel was classified. The rapporteur recommended not a public inquiry and said there was no proof. Poilievre, Conservative Leader, refused to get the secrecy clearance so he could read the report. He'd rather be not informed so he can keep calling for a public inquiry. The government can't do a public inquiry on secret information. That's keeping the issue open like the Benghazi 'scandal' or 'but her emails' whose investigations cleared Clinton in the end but served their purpose of making people not believe in Clinton as the issues went on for years.
This woman is not going to feel safe having moved to Russia as long as she has GOP 'friends' telling her to be afraid.

(8,962 posts)If an American citizen publicly states, from another country, that they have 'defected', does that mean they have officially renounced their citizenship, or does it take some official paperwork or something?
