House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announces he is assembling “a commission” to look at potential cuts in entitlement programs:

“The president walled off all the others. The majority driver of the budget is mandatory spending. It’s Medicare, Social Security, interest on the debt.”

MCCARTHY: "We only got to look at 11% of the budget to find these cuts. We have to look at the entire budget."

FAULKNER: "Why didn't you see the WHOLE budget?"

MCCARTHY: "The President walled off all the others."

Then there's Kevin's admission yesterday that, if the Republicans were serious about cutting the budget they would have done it when they controlled both houses and the Presidency, but instead they added to it.
