McCarthy Commission to Cut the Budget

Speaker McCarthy has called for a commission to cut the budget during a Faux News interview. He complained they only looked at 11% of the budget during negotiations. When asked why he said Biden walled off the rest. He said the drivers are Medicare, social security and debt interest.

The Democrats have already published a plan to shore up social security for the next 75 years. It would require tax increases but would save the program. Republicans have not published a plan and are totally opposed to any tax increases. Their "Blueprint to Save America" gives some hints though (raise age, slash SSDI and SSI).

Finally revealing what we all knew. They want to cut social security and Medicare. Democrats need to make them own it.

When asked why the entire budget was not seen, McCarthy said that president Joe Biden “walled of all the others,” adding, “The majority driver of the budget is mandatory spending. It’s Medicare, Social Security, interest on the debt.”

Unless you're in the top tax tier I'm not aware of any INCREASE (federal or state) that you would be subject to.

Republicans will have more members on the committee because they are the majority in the House.
In the Debt limit Bill, Social Security and Medicare cannot be cut, money for defense is excluded.

Of course Republicans want to cut social services, or at least siphon off money (privatize) to their wealthy campaign donors. The damage they can do merely as a result of the passage of the debt limit extension is limited. This doesn't mean they won't propose other bills in the near future to cut social programs. Of course they will.

Is to turn America into a 18th century religious craphole. They literally hate science, hate modern infrastructure, hate the idea of educating our children and hate the disabled, poor and old.

This party is disgusting.

Remember the last time we had a budget surplus? Of course you don't, because it happened in the last year of the Clinton presidency. And do you remember what happened after that? Of course you don't. The new Bush administration came in running its collective mouth about how the government had sucked up too much money and was impoverishing the American people.

So Bush and the Republican-controlled Congress got right to work with (guess what) tax cuts for the wealthy (did you guess), and your party put a stop to that surplus toot fucking sweet. And then what did the Republicans do? Launched not one, but two invasions and military occupations clear around on the other side of the world, which went on for decades. Did Republicans do the fiscally responsible thing and tap the wealthy for the increased costs? Even you should know the answer by now.

And what do we have to show for those trillions of dollars of additional debt? People who have more money than they can spend in 10 lifetimes got even more money. But we still have citizens starving in the streets, roads and bridges and other infrastructure crumbling, and schools getting more obsolete by the year.

So spare me your fiscally responsible diatribes about how we need to reduce the deficit on the backs of the disabled and the retired.

Big tough guy when it came to the people that he managed. Outside of his group, no one respected him at all. No one paid him any attention.
