Myth Romney: Sociopath or Psychopath?

This was my go to site when linking people to perfect definitions of Teahadists during their hayday. I remembered it just now and thought it worth sharing in the context of Myth Rmoney.

I started highlighting which ones are appropriate to Rmoney but gave up as most of them would be in bold, which would be pointless and make it difficult to read.

Psychopaths are also defined later on the same page and there's a lot of boxes which can be ticked there as well. Is there such a thing as a Psycho-Sociopath?

Profile of the Sociopath

This website summarizes some of the common features of descriptions of the behavior of sociopaths.

+ Glibness and Superficial Charm

+ Manipulative and Conning

They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

+ Grandiose Sense of Self

Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."

+ Pathological Lying

Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

+ Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt

+ A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities.

+ Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

+ Shallow Emotions

When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

+ Incapacity for Love

+ Need for Stimulation

+ Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts. and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

+ Callousness/Lack of Empathy

Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

+ Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature

+ Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

+ Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency

+ Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

+ Irresponsibility/Unreliability

+ Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

+ Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

+ Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle

+ Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.

+ Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility

+ Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

Other Related Qualities:

- Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them

- Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them

- Authoritarian

- Secretive

- Paranoid

- Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired

- Conventional appearance

- Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)
Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim's life

- Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim's affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)

- Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim

- Incapable of real human attachment to another

- Unable to feel remorse or guilt

- Extreme narcissism and grandiose

- May state readily that their goal is to rule the world

(The above traits are based on the psychopathy checklists of H. Cleckley and R. Hare.)

One thing's for sure, he is definitely either a Sociopath or a Psycopath and America and the World can breath an enormous sigh of grateful relief as we watch the missile we just dodged fly off in the direction of Kolob ...

1. I just see "cloistered upper class twit"

and see no reason to medicalize him. If you did that, you'd have to medicalize every one of the 1%, something I really don't think works too well.

He has no regard for anyone outside his class because he considers us a bunch of ants, useful workers when he needs us but to be discarded at will because we are somehow different from people in his own class and are certainly not his problem.

I've known too many people just like him, clueless and uncurious, resistant to anyone who dares hand him a clue phone, and unconcerned about anything but his own comfortable surroundings.

I'm sure the people he considers his peers find him absolutely charming, open and generous to a fault. He just has all the stinkin' thinkin' his class produces about the rest of us.

A cloistered upper class twit might still have some humanity, beneath all that sheltered ignorance, some capacity to give a damn about another person when confronted face to face.

This guy was honed to be a class warrior, to treat people like ants or less than ants, with scorn, loathing and cruelty. He will do anything to "create his own reality".

And medicalizing the 1% sounds like a really good idea. Although jail would be cheaper.

He lost. He's gone. He's no longer relevant in politics or our country's future.

How about we all stop dancing on his grave, and move on to topics that actually matter.

7. He is a fascinating figure in a respect because he came relatively close, (in the fact that he was

the Republican nominee) to being the President of the United States. The fact that this person had gone all the way up the ladder and almost gained power is very frightening. We like to think there can never be another Hitler but there can only never be another Hitler if people refuse to let it happen.

I try to figure him out still. And when I see video of him I can now see his short gait that I read about. He takes very short strides. Someone said that may be a sign of impending dementia, I don't know but it is interesting.

AAAAAnnnndddddd if I want to talk about my left butt cheek on here and someone wants to talk about it with me than we will talk about it.

8. Are you equating Romney with Hitler?

If so, come on now, that's nonsense.

Romney is many things, but the sociopath or psychopath conjecture is ridiculous. There is no objective evidence of this, and analyzing appearance, charm, interpersonal skills, and short strides falls short in this regard, don't you think?

And a quick question: If you do converse about your left butt cheek, what forum will you post your conversation? I say go for it; we could all use some levity about now (!).

cards the night he didn't win I realized he has a real mean streak and I wonder how that would play out as a president.

If I do talk about my left butt cheek it will be in the lounge.

9. I think it's helpful to study this and analyze it carefully.

It NEVER hurts to be able to spot these people - especially when they presume to be able to win the Presidency. I hope wrongney fades into obscurity, but he'll leave a void that others like him will be eager to fill. And we need to be able to pick 'em out and understand what makes them tick. That makes it easier to beat them. SO grateful he's nowhere near the reins of power!!!!
