Goldwater:Reagan::Jackson:Obama
Jesse Jackson, that is.
I was thinking about this yesterday. In the same way that Goldwater lost an election but left behind a vision that came to fruition 16 years later under Reagan, Obama has essentially revived Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition and turned it into the American majority. The new Democratic coalition pleases me immensely, but so does the historical symmetry; history repeats, but this time the good guys win!
