Have no idea if Kelley is republican or not.
My head is spinning, need someone to put this all together, someone smarter than I. I think this is all just beginning. The slimiest of the slime are at the center: Cantor and Rove.

14. I think Cantor's job was to keep Petraeus "clean" for 2016

because they felt they could implicate the POTUS in a security leak scandal a couple days before the election without sacrificing him.

Of course when it all unraveled, it would have shown that the POTUS had no knowledge, but it still would have swayed the election.

For some reason...it didn't unravel until shortly after the election and Petraeus ended up in the hot seat. I don't think that was the plan.

Was there outside (anonymous) interference in this?

Who knows but something went awry.

and in fact did the right thing in reporting back to the FBI. If this is an ongoing investigation, how would she know yet?

It's been reported that the FBI knew about it and was investigating it starting last spring/early summer.

Now did Cantor get it leaked to Drudge just before the election? That might be an interesting question to get the answer to (though we'll probably never find out credibly).
