Bernie Sanders: "Mr. Boehner has got to understand-THEY LOST"

Well, I think the objective facts disagree with that assertion. The Democrats gained two seats in the Senate, did better than anyone dreamed. The Democrats gained more votes in the House, gained a few seats in the House. President Obama won a resounding electoral college victory and won the popular vote, I think by two and a half million votes. (Note: It's actually 3.3 million as of now.)

To suggest the Republicans did well in this election makes no sense at all.

President Obama was very clear. He spoke about this all of the time: if reelected, he is not going to extend tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. He was reelected. Many of us ran on a similar program. We were reelected.

So I think Mr. Boehner has got to understand they lost, and let the wishes of the majority of the people in this country prevail.

Thursday, April 30th to Thursday Nov. 1st. Actually, all summer and fall are beautiful. Lots and lots of Green! Spring or mud season as it's called here...are pretty nice too...watching all the buds form and leaves sprout is a wonder to behold and very exciting knowing summer is around the corner. The countryside looks like a Xmas card in the winter...so that's nice too. Christmas lights on a palm tree doesn't cut it. So what's to dislike? The cold??? Put on some warm clothes and problem solved. However...I do hate the oil bill.

Edited to add it's sunny and 70 degrees here today...Nov 12. Not too bad... ya think?

Just because President Obama won reelection and the Democrats picked up two seats in the Senate doesn't mean that this fight is over. Not by a long shot. On the morning after the election the white power structure and Wall Street still controlled this country. Minorities and women still earned less than white men. Minorities still had a higher unemployment rate and shorter life expectancies. It's going to take years to undo these inequities and all the while the GOP will be trying every trick in the book to deceive future electorates into voting for them.

Yes, we won the battle on Tuesday. Thank God. But the war isn't over and won't be for a long time.

8. The Rethugs were very very smart during Redistricting
Mon Nov 12, 2012, 01:19 PM
Nov 2012

They did not do what has been done time and time again. The Rethugs did not dilute their own districts in an effort to give themselves an overwhelming majority. Instead, they redrew the district lines to give a slight majority of house seats a safe Rethug district. This is why the Rethug majority was re-elected in what was otherwise a landslide for Democrats. So while we were able to chase a couple Rethugs out of office, we were unable to take back the House.

This comes as close as possible to creating a bullet proof Rethug majority in the House. Now of course, it is an obvious part of their plan. It means that the Rethugs can obstruct from now to 2020, when the next Census is taken, and the district lines are up to be adjusted again. To change that we have to win State House elections. But in the meantime, we are stuck with Governing in a gridlocked environment. Do we really think we will manage to vote the bastards out in two years? Do we really think that the Rethugs will blink now that we are approaching the Fiscal Cliff, with hundreds of thousands of jobs tied to the Sequestration that kicks in at the same time? Add to the pending unemployment jump from sequestration, the Companies that are already laying of tens of thousands and blaming it on the ACA, and you have the Rethugs able to sabotage not only President Obama's second term, but the economy as a whole.

Hitler was quoted as saying that he would see the world burn before he gave it up. The Rethugs are just as evil, determined to see the nation burn before they surrender control. They don't have to answer to us, or the nation as a whole. Just their own gerrymandered districts that are majority Rethug filled with mouth breathing morons and racists.

Now the plan is obvious, and now we are faced with two, or more probably four more years of Rethug obstruction.

that are never coming back, there are near 30 million people who are not productive, and these folks are talking about at most a few thousand, some of them service jobs that wouldn't exist without someone making something, near as I can tell.

You know, though, if there is demand, their competitors will be glad they pulled such a boneheaded stunt, if that is what it is. And their stockholders won't be happy happy.

If there is not demand, THAT's the reason they laid people off, not their damn benevolence.

Even smart people bewilder me sometimes. We (I mean as a country) should be talking about how demand creates jobs, how we get demand from investment and how us getting together as a government is the only entity that could possibly pull that off.

Instead we talk about trivia like this, then laugh at people who get their news from the tabloid at the grocery.

"Now, in exchange for paying off a bit of that debt by returning some of the tax rates to their previous levels, Democrats have offered, in a series of high-profile negotiations, to slash trillions in spending, much of it hitting the elderly, the poor and the middle class."

was a different Congress. Most of the Blue Dogs are gone. What are you going to cut in Social Security when people pay into it? The same with Medicare? I can see you cutting waste but people pay into both systems. If you want to talk about food stamps, I can see going after the waste and tightening up on fraud but those programs are needed in able to combat poverty and hunger. we are talking about Health issues si I don't want to hear about that Bull.

The more you create jobs, then you will get people off Government dependency, and that is where the so called job creators have a major fail. That is why more of those programs are needed. I'll tell you where you can look for more waste. Look the the military Industrial complex and where a lot of contractors have gotten wealthy. And why are we providing for everybody's' national defense? I do not want to go around the World trying to fight everybody's Wars. You can save a lot of money there.

There is this notion, this great Debt came about by increasing Entitlements, which people paid for. I beg to differ. Most of this Debt came about because of bad Decisions by the Politicians that now want the middle class and Poor to help pay for. The Two unpaid for Wars and the huge tax cuts and tax credits given to the wealthy and corporations. When Clinton left office, there was a surplus after making these same cuts. Now what has happened to get it out of control? And while the Bush Administration was doing all these things, people gave them warning.

Now I think they should bare the brunt of the Bill. neglecting the Poor and Middle class will not help. Once they get all these revenues, what will those in power do with it? Pay for more Wars? If this country is in for a population increase, there is going to be more Demand. Therefore, you are going to need more jobs. And the notion that Baby Boomers are somehow immortals are ludicrous at best, which is voodoo math. There is no science that backs up any current numbers. They are only theories based on fix numbers that are current. And what is more, Debt can always be forgiven. The U.S. still have debts, they never paid off. Some with interest too.

I'm not sure why this stuff is a surprise to anyone, they never lived in reality and the loss of the election wasn't going to change that.

Next up: Lots of whining about how poor little Republicans are being beat up by Obama and the Senate.

That we as liberals and Democrats have never forced the repubs into accepting they lost previously. When repubs are elected regardless of how close the race they come out immediately after declaring victory and go lock step in the direction of they want meanwhile when we get elected regardless of margin of victory we for some reason ask them what would please them. It's like asking the thief what type of security he would like on your house.
