(13,488 posts)yesterday, and a lot of people were freaking out. Texts comparing pictures of where people were. I went to the Brooklyn Promenade, which overlooks lower manhattan, and on a clear day, you can see all the lower Manhattan buildings quite clearly. Yesterday it was a sepia colored stew.
I think one of the things that felt triggering for many of us was the air felt similar to 9-11. You could smell smoke in the air. It felt like it triggered a PTSD response in many of us.
The public school system was out today, at least the kids were. But my kid's school was supposed to be in, and they cancelled. I'm truly sad about it, as it feels quite big.
The Air Quality numbers have gone down from their peak yesterday, where they were in hazardous levels. But the air still feels thick with smoke, and I feel it in my lungs and eyes.

(13,488 posts)thank goodness. I know the west coast has dealt with weeks of this at a time. I can't imagine.

I have COPD and I have to limit my outside time on orange days. I would be really suffering if I was in NY or the Northeast right now.
