WASHINGTON The owner of a chain of funeral homes on Long Island, New York, was arrested by the FBI on Wednesday and charged in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, NBC News has learned.
Peter G. Moloney of Bayport has been accused of spraying insecticide at police officers and assaulting members of the media, law enforcement officials said.
He faces charges of felony civil disorder; assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers; assault by striking; and five additional misdemeanor counts, according to charging documents unsealed Wednesday.
"Moloney did not simply march to the Capitol with other protestors. He brought protective eyewear, a helmet, and a can of Black Flag Wasp, Hornet & Yellow Jacket Killer," an FBI agent stated in an affidavit against Moloney. "This indicates that he went to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, prepared for violence." The agent added that Moloney assaulted law enforcement officers with the can of spray.
Authorities said Moloney also assaulted an Associated Press photographer, as well as videographer Nick Quested who was referred to by his initials, "N.Q.," in the affidavit by pulling on their cameras and causing them to fall down some stairs..............................................................

The owner of a funeral home chain in Long Island, New York was arrested by FBI agents this week after being exposed as an alleged Capitol rioter.
NBC News reports that Peter G. Moloney of Bayport, New York, has been charged with spraying insecticide at police officers and assaulting members of the media on January 6th, 2021.
Moloney had been identified many months ago by the group of online sleuths known as the "Sedition Hunters," who frequently complained that it was taking too long to arrest the Trump supporter for his alleged crimes.
"Sleuths even made jokes referencing Moloney's business, saying they were 'dying' to see him arrested," reports NBC News. "Online sleuths have identified hundreds of additional Jan. 6 participants who have not yet been arrested."....................................

Thanks to all of them for continuing to pursue the band of shitbags who attacked the US Capitol and Democracy itself. Keep going Sedition Hunters! And thank you.

(8,329 posts)He should be going to jail for a while. USCP Officer Brian Sicknick died on 1/7 the fmday after being attacked by a chemical cocktail of pepper spray, CS, Bear Spray, Black Flag, WD 40 and a host of other chemicals. Brian was a hero who died defending democracy.

For the first several days and weeks following J6, which I monitored for a time.
They were amazing. And there were a number of successful identifications.
