Do you know anybody like this in your family or group of friends.

They say that they are politically moderate or just somewhat conservative.
They don’t like the way that Trump behaves and belittles people.
However, they voted for him against Biden and would do so again.
They believe that Biden and all Democrats, for that matter, are so vile that they would not ever vote for them. They can’t really express why other than to just talk in generalities such as throwing out code words like fascist, communist, socialist or whatever comes to mind.

In my experience they only pretend to be ‘moderate’ or ‘considerate’ when they want you to either not report their behavior and get them in trouble with the law or more civil people in their social orbit -or- they’re trying to lobby anyone to get them to weaken their liberal stances

I could list dozens of additional examples to show how we differ. People drawn to the Republican Party have a character flaw. The lack a basic element needed by a good citizen: empathy. At the end of the day, this one thing defines us.

God & Guns - that's another one I saw. No babies in that one.

I don't think there's any reasoning with people who advocate for a six-week clump of cells, but won't do anything about the open slaughter of living children in their schools. The gun love in this country is sick. It's a mental illness & needs to be treated as such.

My theory is that much as they hate the minorities & gays, it's the white liberals they hate the most cuz we're race traitors. If it weren't for us they could easily suppress the others. My rad trumper cousin rarely rants against minorities & it's usually uppity women when he does, but he hates on the libs all the time.

But then again, we see them that way, too, so you are right. I don't think there's a way to bridge the gap.

They've had 40+ years of unchallenged bullshit about how bad & evil the dems are along with false, & again unchallenged claims that the GOP is the party of fiscal responsibility & small government.

Most repubs would never vote for a dem so our best hope is they vote independent or not at all.

My housemate/landlord wants desperately to be seen as a liberal and a progressive. BUT, he always acts like that freaking orange gibbon. He is a big spender who actually doesn't have big spending but manages to muddle through financially. He is a dick waving child who cannot stop buying crap and showing it off. He is very racist even as he denies it. He once almost knocked me over by scooting in front of me to get on my other side (which made him walk in a massive puddle, which he did without complaint. He had boots on, btw.) because two African American joggers were coming up behind us and he heard them and freaked out... like they were going to backstab us in some mysterious D&D encounter. Idiot. And yes, he secretly votes and promotes a very conservative agenda to keep his money flow intact. This spoiled idiot is gay, btw. Go figure that one out.

Many examples, but here's one:

BIL said that in order to understand what happened at Benghazi, I should watch the movie called something like 13 hours blah blah, which he saw at church.

Didn't watch it, no need to since the people actually involved called it fiction.

Some kind of brain disorder where the logic module is missing.

They seem to think that Democrats are inadequate. Forty years of propaganda has convinced them that Republicans are strong on defense and the economy. That's what they care about. They think Trump is gross but will definitely vote for him again if he's the Republican nominee.

To win, we have to turn out more voters than they do. We won't change many minds. It's all about turnout.

Funtatlaguy, your description is spot on. Ask these clowns why they hate Dems so much and you get vague talking points straight off of Fox. If they can come up with an answer at all.
